Momma said there'll be days like this...

Yesterday, was really great. I've been waking up at 7 to feed Jack, pump, and shower before the girls get out of bed at 8:00. This has been super helpful to getting our morning going, and me not feeling like a crazy person. I had prepped everything the night before in the kitchen for pancakes. I knew Jack could be on his play-mat for a bit, while I worked with the girls on breakfast. My aunt came over later to take the girls to the library, so that they wouldn't miss Tuesday story time.  Jack and I got caught up on pumping, and reading while they were gone. I also did the dishes and a load of laundry. Basically yesterday went really well and I was super proud of myself.

This morning started off roughly the same, but I should have known when I kissed the bottle instead of Jack's head that it might be a rough one...

I have to tread very lightly and watch what I say in the morning, or the girls loose it and fall into tantrum mode. I also have to be completely ready to be with them and able to help them navigate their morning in the way that they would like.

For example: When they make their way into the bedroom, I have to greet them with a cheery disposition--
I ask, "would you like to get dressed now or eat breakfast first?" Not giving them this choice makes for a really rough power struggle.
When we get downstairs it is very important to let them pick their breakfast unless otherwise discussed the night before. (This does not always work!)

My house is run by tiny 3 year old dictators.

When we got downstairs this morning, I had things ready to make cinnamon sugar toast for them, they immediately  disagreed with this arrangement and pleaded for cereal. I went ahead with that choice. After breakfast, Ella lost her mind about wearing her pink dress today.

I told her it was in the laundry...

Have you ever seen a child literally melt into a puddle of emotion? Tell them something is in the laundry, works every time!

Jack was starting to get restless, I needed to get him comfortable for a nap at this point. I had the girls go up to their room to pick their clothes.

This relieved Ella of her tears; for a moment.

When they came down Ella ended up getting tangled in her underpants. You are asking yourself..."how can you get tangled in underpants? Well, you obviously haven't been around Ella enough to understand how her body works in space...it doesn't, girlfriend needs lots of help...Meltdown number 2.

I had wanted to color Easter eggs, my brother had brought over a dozen eggs this weekend and we just never got to it. I thought, "let's color eggs now, that will get us past this nightmare of a morning!"
Well, for some reason I had thought that my brother had already hard boiled the eggs...long story short; he hadn't. Eggs everywhere, spilled green egg coloring, and Jack crying was how this ended.

I drank another cup of coffee and we moved on with life.

Meanwhile, my boob started to really bother me, it was sore just to move my arm. I looked up my symptoms. Clogged milk duct.

Great!

While I super pumped and massaged my boob with a heated up "boo-boo bag" the girls played and Jack napped. Thank god, a small break.

I texted my own mother: "motherhood is painful!"

Ava came into the living room and told me the dog had pooped in the front room. Literally, simultaneously while she was saying this, the dog pukes down the back of our couch.

Remember, I am currently hooked up to my pump.

Yeah, you remember because I forgot...ouch!

After I cleaned all of the mess up and got my life back together. Ava comes back out rubbing her chest. I ask her if she is ok and she proceeds to tell me; "I am super pumping, my boobie hurts, I ok Mom"
Good grief...

It's been a wild morning; thankfully I am writing this while all 3 of my children are "napping" that is "napping" because, Ava is currently in her bed quietly doing a gymnastics routine.

Not all days are smooth, actually most days are totally a hot mess! At least I had good material to write about today, thanks guys, keep up the good work! ;-)
