We went on vacation, I went back to work, and we have a new babysitter! Not to mention some personal family things that have come up.
Time flies, I think I say this or something very similar to this every post; I cannot help it, it is SO true!
This will be a few snippets of what you've missed!
Vacation was great! Different but, still great. The girls were amazing! We drove through the night and they slept the whole way! We gave them their first bottle in the morning in the car and then we were to our destination. They struggled with naps a wee bit at first, but slept through the night like pros. We had a few hiccups though as the girls both ended up with colds towards the end of the week. Sleeping was slightly interrupted but nothing drastic.
They both loved the water! Ava would cry when we would get out of the pool. Ella would try to climb out of her floating device to try to swim on her own, ((not surprising)) we ended up holding them in the water more and letting them kick and splash with us. The beach was visited always early in the morning. We never were able to stay long as nap time came quickly. This was fine with us this year as we really didn't want them eating the sand, and sitting up on their own was not something they had mastered yet. Looking forward to our next adventure with them, they were great little travelers.
Literally the Monday that we were home I went back to work. I always have taught summer school for my district. It is a great way to ease into school and make a little extra money. That was the plan this year as well. Sunday night I was literally dreading waking and leaving my girls. I barely slept. Oddly enough; when I woke up from the little sleep that I had gotten, I was super excited to get to school! I was sad to leave the girls but slightly excited to start working again. This was a true blessing because I truly didn't know if I really could ever go back. Since then I've very much enjoyed getting back into a routine and going to work. I miss my girls like crazy and am speeding home to see them but, I think teaching is good for my soul.
Our new babysitter seems to be really enjoying the girls, and they are enjoying her, I think. She has also been able to ease herself into taking care of twins as I am only working half days while in summer school. Today I did stay and get some work done in my classroom and she stayed until 3:30. Everything went smoothly and will hope it continues.
While I was away from blogging Ava also went back to the hip doctor. He was very impressed with her and how well her hip was doing. She is still in her brace. We go back on the 22nd to see if it is still doing as well. If so she may be able to get into a less intrusive kind of brace, if her hip isn't doing well we will have to cast her. (fingers crossed for a new brace) Ava's eye surgery is scheduled for September 7th and we will have a few eye doctor visits to go to before and after to see how she is doing. Other than that Avie is doing great. She says Mama VERY clearly now and is a babbling queen. We allow her to be out of her brace for just a little bit before baths and she rolls around and brings her legs up and has a grand old time out of that thing!
Ella is still not exactly crawling yet. (I am not counting an army crawl, she does do that) She does get up on all fours now though. She is trying! The baby gate went up this week as she would roll to Timbuktu if you turn your back for too long! She loves to stand up with help and giggles more than any little thing I've ever met.
It's so true what they say about loving them more each day, it's hard to imagine that at first, but it's real. If you're a new mom I am sure you understand, and or are starting to understand. If you're kids are grown, I don't know how your hearts haven't just burst. They are my favorite things in the whole world! I love watching them grow!
