I would like to preface this post by saying; we are not "writers," we are two people who have a lot of fun information to share and writing it on this blog is the best way to share. That being said here goes nothin'...
I have always wanted to be a father; that has been a lifelong goal of mine. So, you can imagine that when Meghan and I found out she was pregnant I was beyond excited. Those 9 months were long. Meg was so sick at the beginning and then so uncomfortable at the end. I remember her telling me it felt like she was making a 3 point turn just to roll on her other side in bed. (Ha!) I have always seen Meghan as superwoman but, those 9 months and what was soon to come after truly has showed me how amazing Meghan is.
On December 21st, Meghan called me while I was at work and told me she was having some pretty bad back pain, enough to call the doctor about. The doctor directed us to go to the hospital just to get checked, incase. We showed up at the hospital, expecting to get checked out and go home. (Meg had back pain a lot towards the end) Little did we know that our perfect angels were ready to make their debut and change our lives forever.
As a husband, watching a team of nurses wheel your pregnant wife back into a sterile room, to prep for a C-section, without you, is a terrible feeling. Ever since I can remember my main purpose has always been to love and protect Meg. Now, I had to trust a team of nurses and doctors to make sure Meghan was safe. I remember walking into the room once Meg was prepped; she looked up at me and said do you think they have started yet? I said, Uh yeah! Ha, it's funny now to think of, but right then I knew how nervous she was.
I thought 9 months was long but, during that 45 minute procedure it felt like an eternity. That was until I heard my little Ava take her first breath and then proceed to cry. (I'm not gonna lie, just writing about this is making me tear up a little.) 1 minute later I heard my little Ella take her first breath and follow suit with the crying. Never have I been more proud than in those few minutes. The days
that have followed have been far beyond what Meghan and I have ever anticipated.
